Glen Mitchell is the artistic director for the Walla Walla Valley Concert Band and the director of the Mill Creek Jazz Ensemble. Glen is a retired music educator. He started his career in Asotin, Washington in 1968. In 1969 he was the music director for Dayton School District. He held this position for three years before moving to Auburn, Washington to serve as the Auburn H.S. band director. In 1973 Glen made his final career move when he accepted the position of Walla Walla High School band director. A few years later he was named Director of Music for the Walla Walla School district, a position he held until his retirement in 2006. He, and his wife Meredith are charter members of the Walla Walla Valley Band. They have fond memories of the early years as an ensemble.
It is Glen's responsibility as artistic director to choose and/or approve all of the music that the band plays. He enjoys listening to new concert and jazz band compositions and carefully picks music that the both the band members and the audience will enjoy.
